Cronus Zen Setup Guide for PS5 and Xbox (2024)

Get your Cronus Zen up and running on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S in under 8 minutes. This guide covers downloading Zen Studio, updating your firmware, loading scripts, and completing the console bypass for both platforms — everything straight from the official walkthrough.

What You'll Learn

  • How to download and install Zen Studio on your PC
  • How to update your Cronus Zen firmware to the latest version
  • How to load scripts onto your Cronus Zen using the programmer port
  • Where to find the best Cronus Zen scripts for any game
  • How to connect your Cronus Zen to Xbox Series X|S and PS5 — including the bypass for each console

Before You Start

Before you start

  • Cronus Zen device (out of the box)
  • Windows PC to run Zen Studio
  • USB cable for connecting the Zen to your PC (programmer port connection)
  • The cable that came with your Cronus Zen (blue-tipped controller cable)
  • For PS5: a USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable
  • For Xbox: USB cable that connects Zen to the front of the console
  • Your wired controller
  • A script file downloaded and ready to go

Step-by-Step

1. Download and Install Zen Studio

Open your browser and search Zen Studio download.
Click the Cronus Downloads result to reach the official downloads page.
Click Download and then select the latest build (e.g., 1.61 Build 82).
Once the installer downloads, open it and press Next → Agree → Install.
Launch Zen Studio once installation completes.

2. Update Your Cronus Zen Firmware

Bootloader mode required

You must put the Zen into bootloader mode before the firmware updater will detect the device. Skipping this step means the updater will not connect.

In Zen Studio, click Tools in the top-left corner.
Select Online Firmware Update, then press Yes when prompted.
The Online Update Tool will open.
Plug your Cronus Zen in from the top port using a USB cable.
Flip the Zen over and hold the blue button on the back for approximately 3 seconds to enter bootloader mode.
The tool will show "Zen Bootloader" — confirming it has connected.
Click the Latest firmware option (e.g., 2.2.14, 2.2.16, or 2.2.18 depending on what is available to you — always choose the one labeled Latest).
Wait for the update to complete and confirm the success message.

3. Connect Zen to Zen Studio and Load a Script

Programmer port vs. top port

Firmware updates use the top port. Loading scripts uses the right-hand programmer port. Make sure you switch ports before this step.

Unplug the Zen from the top port.
Plug the Zen into your PC using the right-hand programmer port — this is the dedicated programmer port.
Zen Studio will now show the full compiler and programmer interface.
Head over to yew.gg to find and download the best Cronus Zen scripts for your game — Call of Duty, Fortnite, 2K, Apex Legends, Siege, Rust, and more are all available there.
Once you have your script file, go to File → Open inside Zen Studio and open the script.
The script code will populate in the compiler — you do not need to edit anything.
Click the Programmer tab in Zen Studio.
Click the six-line icon on the left side and drag your script into an available slot (e.g., slot 6).
Press the blue button in the programmer to write the script to your Cronus Zen.
Wait for the success message confirming the script is programmed.
Press the blue button on the device to activate the script slot.
Finding scripts for any game

yewscripts.com has scripts for a wide range of games including 2K, Fortnite, Call of Duty, Apex Legends, Rainbow Six Siege, Rust, Ark Raiders, and MLB. Search by game to find exactly what you need.

4. Connect Cronus Zen to Xbox Series X|S

Plug the USB cable into the top port of the Cronus Zen.
Plug the other end directly into the front of your Xbox (works on both Series S and Series X).
Take the blue-tipped controller cable and plug it into the left-hand side of the Cronus Zen — not the bottom ports, not any other port, specifically the left-hand side.
Plug your controller into the other end of that cable.
Your controller will not respond at first — this is expected.
Unplug the Zen from the top, then plug it straight back in.
Your controller should vibrate and flash, confirming the connection is live.
To open your script menu: hold Left Trigger and press Options on your controller.
You can now navigate the script menu and close it — your Zen is fully operational on Xbox.

5. Connect Cronus Zen to PS5

PS5 settings must be configured first

Before attempting the PS5 bypass, you need to update two specific settings in your PlayStation 5 system settings. Skipping these will cause the bypass to fail.

Configure PS5 settings first:

On your PS5, go to Settings → Accessories → Advanced Settings.
Make sure Bluetooth is turned on. If you just enabled it, restart your console.
Go to Controller (General) and set Communication Method to Use USB Cable.
Still in Controller (General), go to Turn Off Accessories.

Perform the PS5 bypass:

Take a USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable and plug one end into the front of your PS5.
Take the blue-tipped controller cable and plug it into the left-hand side of the Cronus Zen.
Plug your controller into the other end of the controller cable.
At this point the Cronus Zen should be powered off — it is only connected on the left-hand side, not yet plugged into the PS5.
Make sure your Zen is on the basic home screen (showing the alien icon, no script active). Press the blue button on the device to return to that screen if needed.
Hold the Right D-pad button on your controller.
While holding Right D-pad, plug the Zen's USB-C cable into the front of the PS5.
Continue holding Right D-pad — your screen will flash and behave erratically. That is normal.
Once the screen settles, release Right D-pad.
Navigate to your script, then hold Left Trigger and press Options to open the script menu.
You can now navigate the menu and play your game — the PS5 bypass is complete.

Tips

  • Always use the top port for firmware updates and right-hand programmer port for loading scripts — mixing these up is the most common mistake.
  • When doing the PS5 bypass, the Zen should only be about halfway plugged in before you complete the connection — the video confirms you plug it in while holding the D-pad rather than fully seating it beforehand.
  • To switch between scripts on your Zen, press the blue button on the device to cycle through your programmed slots.
  • You can hold Left Trigger + Options on either Xbox or PS5 to open a script's in-game menu without leaving your game.

Troubleshooting

| Problem | What to check | |---|---| | Zen not detected in firmware updater | Make sure you held the back blue button for 3 seconds to enter bootloader mode | | Script won't load in Zen Studio | Confirm the Zen is plugged into the right-hand programmer port, not the top port | | Xbox controller not responding after setup | Unplug the Zen from the top port and plug it back in — the controller should vibrate | | PS5 bypass not working | Verify Bluetooth is on and communication method is set to Use USB Cable in PS5 settings; also confirm the Zen is on the basic home screen (alien icon) before attempting the bypass | | Screen spamming during PS5 bypass | This is normal — keep holding Right D-pad until it stops |
